From 2018 to 2021, Yoki Tanaka achieved a feat never before attempted: he traversed all 301 of Japan’s “Nihon Hyakumeizan,” or the 300 famous mountains, from south to north. This journey was completed without the use of any transportation—Tanaka crossed the mountains entirely on foot, and he even paddled a canoe across sea straits. His adventure was broadcast as part of NHK's "Great Traverse 3," inspiring countless viewers.
